The Ohio Bobcats took their MAC conference opener and extended their winning streak to six matches with a 1-0 victory over the Bowling Green Falcons.

The lone goal of game was scored by Bobcat forward Erin Schwenke, her first of the season. She came on as a substitution in the first half and scored the goal just 44 seconds into the second half. Freshman Holly Harris assisted on the game-winning score.

Ohio goalkeeper Mattie Liston also came up big with her fifth shutout of the season. All five of Liston’s shutouts have come during the Bobcats’ current win streak. Ohio also came up big on offense outshooting the Falcons 18-7.

Ohio could not have picked a better time to get hot and go on a win streak as the all-important MAC matches are just starting. With the victory, the Bobcats move to 6-3-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in Mid-American conference play.

The Bobcats will look to extend their six-match win streak to seven when they play the Central Michigan Chippewas (5-2-1, 1-0-0 MAC) in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. this Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
