Juli Accurso Leads Ohio Cross Country in MAC Championship

The Ohio University women’s cross country team capped one of its most successful regular seasons to date with a third place team finish in the MAC championships on Saturday in Buffalo, New York.
Ohio achieved the top-three finish by placing four runners in the top 15. This includes junior Julie Accurso, who took first place individually with a time of 20:48. With sophomore Morgan Reichert finishing ninth, and junior Melissa Thompson and freshman Kayla Scott finishing 12th and 15th, respectively, Ohio’s total of 94 points trailed only Miami (OH) and the overall champion: Toledo.
The Bobcats will try to ride their momentum into the postseason at the NCAA regionals in Madison, Wis. on Friday, Nov. 9.
Men
The Ohio University men’s cross country team finished seventh in the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday at the University of Buffalo.
The Bobcats were led by senior Tyler Ames, who finished 19th with a time of 25:28. Ohio’s next highest finisher was sophomore Jacob Stevens, who placed 33rd overall. He posted a time of 25:58.
Eastern Michigan took home the team championship as the Eagles had the top two overall finishers. Terefe Ejigu claimed the top overall spot with a time of 24:44.
The Bobcats will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 9 in Madison, Wis.
