Athens County Man Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Assault Charge Involving A Minor

An Athens County man has pleaded not guilty to a sexual assault charge involving a minor.

James Dawson, 39, of The Plains, appeared in the Athens County Court of Common Pleas Thursday and pleaded not guilty to one count of gross sexual imposition.

Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn says Dawson is accused of having sexual contact with a nine year old girl in June of this year.

Blackburn says that Dawson had a personal relationship with the victim. 

"It was not a random act of violence," he said.

Dawson's bond was set at $100,000, and a jury trial has been scheduled for January 10, 2013.
