Ohio State Fire Marshal Reminding People To Check Their Smoke Detectors
< < Back to ohio-state-fire-marshal-reminding-people-check-their-smoke-detectorsThe Ohio State Fire Marshal wants people to remember to make a potentially life saving change this weekend.
While you change your clocks forward this Sunday to end daylight savings time, you should check to make sure your smoke detector is working properly and change out the batteries.
According to the State Fire Marshal there were 73 fatal house fires through October 31st.
Only nine of those 73 homes had working smoke detectors.
Fire safety officials recommend you have a smoke detector on every level of your home and in each bedroom.
It is also a good idea to develop and practice an escape plan for you and your family.
