< < Back to ohio-claims-second-zippy-invitationalOhio was unable to mount a comeback Sunday afternoon in Akron, but the women’s swimming and diving team still had a great performance at the Zippy Invitational.
Laurin Williams started the day off for Ohio by winning the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 17:02.22, winning the event by more than seven seconds. Michelle Gasior swam the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:04.60, which was good for a third place finish. The 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Haley Clark, Funk, Bocharnikova and Brooks swam an impressive race taking second place. Their time of 3:25.87 was only .8 seconds behind the leader.
Ohio scored 1,211 points on the weekend, while Toledo won with 1,697. The women will be back in action Dec. 12 at Denison.
