Scioto County Sheriff deputies are searching for a male who allegedly robbed a West Portsmouth bank and stole a car Friday morning.

Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received a call at 11:19 a.m. stating that the WestBanco on Galena Pike had been robbed.

Donini said the suspect entered the bank brandishing a weapon and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the teller.

He said the suspect demanded the bank teller to give him her car keys, and then made her walk with him to her vehicle in the parking lot.

The teller told police that the suspect got into her 2000 gold two-door caviler and drove away traveling south bound.

Donini said detectives recovered the vehicle on the side of the road in West Portsmouth just shortly after the robbery.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery is asked to contact the Scioto County Sheriff's Office at 740-351-1099.
