Health Department Urging Hotel Smoking Ban
< < Back to health-department-urging-hotel-smoking-banThe Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department wants hotels in six counties to go smoke-free.
The department has proposed a hotel smoking ban on the heels of the surgeon general's report that there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke.
Public health officials say many hotels in Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt and Wood counties are already smoke-free.
It would be up to the hotels to police if smokers were lighting up in their rooms.
The health department will take public comments on the proposed ban in January.
