Lady Lancers Stumble Against South Gallia
< < Back to
After an aggressive second half, The Federal Hocking Lady Lancers fell short to the South Gallia Rebels at home, 56-36.
Both teams started off sluggish in the first half. The Lady Lancers shot 0-for-11 to end the first quarter and they did not make their first field goal until 5:47 left in the second quarter.
“We just have to believe in ourselves and keep shooting,” Head Coach Jeff McKibben said.
Hitting a shot wasn’t the only problem for the Lady Lancers. Double trouble from South Gallia’s Meghan Caldwell and Ellie Bostie proved to be too much for Fed Hock. The duo scored an incredibly large chunk of the points in tonight’s game, 37 of the team's 56 to be exact. Caldwell couldn’t be stopped on either end of the court, snagging 14 points and seven steals. Bostie lead the way with 23 points and seven rebounds.
In the Lady Lancer’s losing effort, they brought the heat in the second half. Even though their shots were starting to fall, it was too little too late. The Rebels started crashing the boards and getting most of their points with fast breaks. The Lady Lancer’s Cheyenne Singer added 13 points with eight of them during the fourth quarter.
“Our team just couldn’t answer and keep our momentum going against the Rebels,” McKibben said.
The Lady Lancer’s rallied but, it wasn’t in time to beat the South Gallia Rebels. The Lady Lancers fall to 5-10 on the season while the Rebels improve to 14-4 overall.
“We just have to come in Saturday, get ready to work, and take care of our own business,” McKibben said.
The Lady Lancers take to the road to play Symmes Valley on Saturday.
