The Athens Bulldogs handed the Golden Rockets their third-straight loss in convincing fashion Wednesday night, 86-51, as Athens was able to bounce back from a tough loss to Logan.

The Bulldogs were led by Joe Burrow tonight as he totaled 31 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and shot 48 percent from the field. The rest of the starting five helped out too as the five racked up 73 of the 86 points. The benched pitched in as well, as every player that touched the court scored. The only player on the team who didn’t was Zacchia Saltzman who did not play due to an injury sustained earlier in week.

Athens stepped up big on defense too as they stole the ball 15 times and had seven blocks in the game. They also created opportunities as the team pulled down 33 rebounds. This game was all Athens, all night as they achieved a 30 point lead at halftime and never let the Golden Rockets get close. The Bulldogs also protected the ball as well committing only 10 turnovers the whole game.

Wellston was also short-handed tonight as their big man, Justus Ousley, was unable to play due to a suspension for technical fouls. This combined with poor ball control caused the Golden Rockets to suffer and allow the Bulldogs to thrive.

The Bulldogs will try to continue their dominance in the TVC-Ohio as they take on rival Nelsonville-York at home this Friday.
