MWCD Signs Land Lease Deal
< < Back to mwcd-signs-land-lease-dealAn agreement has been reached for the third largest area land lease in southeast Ohio for horizontal fracturing.
Public affairs administrator for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Darrin Lautenschleger said that the lease is for more than 6,000 acres of land which stretches across Noble and Guernsey counties.
While not required to, the MWCD provided the details of the lease on their website for public review.
"We accepted comments, and our staff's been able to review those comments, get back to folks who had questions or suggestions and we were able to provide all those to our board before we voted on the lease," said Lautenschleger.
Lautenschleger said a key portion of this lease is that it is a no development lease.
"There will be no drill pads, well pads on MWCD property in fulfillment of the oil and gas lease," said Lautenschleger.
Lautenschleger said that construction for the removal of oil and gas will be permitted with environmental safeguards on adjacent private properties.
