Accusations of inappropriate teacher behavior in Ohio are on the rise.

Ohio Department of Education records say the number of accusations have tripled since 2007.

Some experts attribute the increased cases of bad teacher behavior to social media and a better system for reporting the conduct.

The problems have included lewd text messages, inappropriate Facebook posts, physical threats and sex acts with students.

The number of conduct-unbecoming cases reported to the state increased from 250 in 2007 to 754 in 2011. However, specific sexual offenses investigated by the education department's Office of Professional Conduct have decreased since 2008.

The state education department investigates whether a teacher's license should be revoked or suspended when it receives reports of bad teacher behavior.
