Sentencing Postponed In Ohio Craigslist Killings
< < Back to sentencing-postponed-ohio-craigslist-killingsAn Ohio judge has postponed sentencing of a self-styled street preacher in the murders of three down-and-out men lured by Craigslist job offers after a defense attorney fell ill.
Judge Lynne Callahan in Akron rescheduled 53-year-old Richard Beasley's sentencing for April 4. Last week the jury that convicted Beasley voted that he should be executed.
The judge has the option of reducing the sentence to life in prison.
One of Beasley's attorneys was sick, prompting postponement of Tuesday's hearing.
Teenage co-defendant Brogan Rafferty was sentenced last year to life without parole. Because of his age, he wasn't eligible for the death penalty.
Three men were killed in the robbery plot. A fourth who was wounded testified at Beasley's trial.
