Ohio Track and Field Finishes Second in Home Meet

Ohio Track and Field won four events Saturday to finish second at the Ohio Team Challenge with 53 points.

Melissa Thompson won the final event of the day for Ohio, the 1500m run, with a season-best time of 4:41.49. Morgan Meade and Krista Roehlig finished fourth and fifth respectively in the same event.

Ohio had four runners place in the top-four in the 800m run. Delaney Bogler finished fourth, Thompson finished third and Danielle Winningham won the event with her best run of the season with a time of 2:13.24.

In the field, sophomore Janiece Rose had a personal-best throw of 13.81m to win the shot put, and Alexis Geiger picked up a win for the Bobcats in the long jump. Geiger’s jump of 5.75m is fifth best in the MAC this season and puts her in position to qualify for the MAC Outdoor Championships.

Junior Olivia Vitou place third in the javelin, and senior Alexa Macri finished third in the discus. Macri also had a fourth place finish in the hammer throw, while teammate Lauren McCullough finished in third, 0.78m ahead of Macri with a throw of 44.78m.

Kiley Mathews had two top-five finishes for Ohio. She finished third in the 400m dash and fifth in the 200m dash.

Marshall finished in front of the Bobcats after the day's events with 92 points. West Virginia placed third with 40.

The Bobcats’ next meet is April 12-13, when they host the All-Ohio Championships.
