< < Back to woub-ohio-university-students-recognized-society-professional-journalist-awardsThe Society of Professional Journalists, Region 4 Mark of Excellence Awards, has awarded two first place awards to WOUB student reporters.
First place was awarded to Sandhya Kambhampati, Keara Vickers and Seaira Christian-Daniels in the Television General News Reporting for “Voice of the Voters: Ohio University.” The story was featured on Washington Week with Gwen Ifill’s website during the 2012 presidential election.
Taylor Mirfendereski was awarded a first place award in the Television In-Depth Reporting category for “Researchers Investigate Links Between Fracking And Water Contamination.”
The package investigates the possibility of links between water contamination and hydraulic fracturing, known as ‘fracking.’ Mirfendereski talks with both community members who claim their water was contaminated due to fracking in the area and to oil company representatives who believe there is no connection between the two. The package was a part of a call in program Newswatch Indepth: Fracking Frenzy that aired on WOUB in February 2012.
