Lamping Leads Ohio Men’s Golf On Day One Of MAC Championships
< < Back to lamping-leads-ohio-mens-golf-day-one-mac-championships-0Despite a strong performance by senior Michael Lamping, the Ohio men’s golf team finds themselves in eighth place in a field of nine teams at the MAC Championship Tournament at the Longaberger Country Club in Nashport, Ohio.
Lamping sits in a tie for fourth place overall after shooting +3 on the first day of the tournament.
In his first round, Lamping was +1 after the front nine, but then recorded an eagle immediately to start his back nine. It was the first eagle recorded by anyone all day.
Senior Byron Firestone is tied for 23rd overall among the 45 entrants after shooting +11. Firestone double-bogeyed twice and shot an 8 on a par-3 hole five during his second round of the day, but he also recorded seven birdies throughout the day.
Connor Coldwater finished tied for 38th at +18, and Andrew Mlynarski and Brad Lucas placed slightly further behind at 40th and 42nd overall, respectively.
Overall, the Bobcats shot 626 (+50) in two rounds Saturday.
Kent State holds the lead over all other eight MAC schools after shooting a combined 591 (+15).
The second day of the three-day championship tournament will take place on Saturday, with Ohio teeing off at 7:50 a.m.
