Marshall University Dorm Demolished
< < Back to marshall-university-dorm-demolishedMarshall University has torn down an old dormitory to create green space on its campus.
Demolition of Hodges Hall began Saturday and was completed Tuesday.
Marshall spokesman Dave Wellman tells The Herald-Dispatch that the cost of deferred maintenance also was a factor in the decision to tear down the building.
Hodges Hall was built in 1937 during Marshall's centennial year and served as a dormitory until 2007. Marshall then used the building as office space for the community college and for storage.
