A 25-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday for pleading guilty to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court.

Joseph W. Crawford II, of Circleville, was given the maximum sentence for the third-degree felony and must register as a Tier I sex offender for 15 years.

Assistant prosecutor Jayme Fountain said the incident occurred last October with a 14-year-old girl at Twin Oaks Apartments, where he had been living with the girl’s family for a couple of months. The girl reported the incident at school, which got children’s services and law enforcement involved.

Crawford was booked into the Pickaway County Jail immediately after his sentencing. He had bonded out in late December after his initial arrest in early November. He will serve his prison term in Orient.
