Road Worker Rescues Drowning Kittens
< < Back to road-worker-rescues-drowning-kittensA road worker is being called a hero after rescuing three day-old kittens that a woman had stuffed in a plastic bag and thrown into an eastern Ohio creek.
It happened Thursday in the village of Dillonvale near the Ohio-West Virginia state line.
WTOV-TV reports that crews were laying asphalt when workers saw the women throw the bag into the creek. They could see the kittens moving and meowing, and one of the workers, Bobby Bumgardner, went into the water and got them out.
The kittens were safe and recovering at the Jefferson County Humane Society, where manager Cassandra Howell was hailing Bumgardner as a hero.
The sheriff's office is investigating, but the woman accused of throwing the baby cats in the water hasn't been charged.
