Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Region
< < Back to severe-thunderstorm-watch-issued-regionThe National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of the WOUB Coverage area for Wednesday afternoon.
Counties affected include Brooke and Ohio counties in West Virginia and the following counties in Ohio: Adams, Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Fairfield, Franklin, Guernsey, Harrison, Hocking, Jefferson, Licking, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Tuscarawas.
The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service reports that wind gusts up to 75 mph. large hail and tornadoes are possible with showers and thunderstorms expected Wednesday.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch, according to the NWS, means that, "Conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area."
Those affected should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions as severe thunderstorms can and occasionally produce tornadoes.
