Athens Bank Robbery Suspect Turns Himself In
< < Back to athens-bank-robbery-suspect-turns-himselfThe man believed to have robbed the People's Bank in Athens on Monday has turned himself in to the Athens Police Department.
In a Saturday morning news release, the Athens Police said Emmanuel Arocho, 31, of Albany, Ohio turn himself in at 2:00 am Saturday morning.
Athens Police say they believe this is the same man who walked into the bank on East State Street Monday afternoon and handed a bank teller a note stating he was robbing the bank.
Unusually clear surveillance-camera footage showed the man and police were able to name Arocho as a suspect the following day.
On Friday police said he had connections to the community and said he might have been suffering from post traumatic stress.
A source close to the family said Arocho had previously been in the military and may have been suffering from addiction to pain medications following an injury.
Arocho is scheduled to appear in Athens County Municipal court on July 15, 2013 at 9:30 am.
