Police Continue To Investigate Athens Shooting
< < Back to police-continue-investigate-athens-shootingAs of Wednesday afternoon not many details were available regarding a 29-year-old Athens man who suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
“We had very limited time with him Tuesday,” said Athens Police Chief Tom Pyle.
The shooting was reported by O’Bleness Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, and when officers arrived the victim was being prepared for transport to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. His name has not been released.
Pyle said investigators went to Columbus, but were unable to talk with the victim due to medical matters.
“… Investigators from the Athens Police Department have not been able to interview the victim or relatives,” stated a police news release Wednesday afternoon. “When the victim is coherent, investigators from the department will thoroughly interview both the victim and relatives for additional details of the incident.”
Pyle said the shooting allegedly occurred on the east end of Athens, but he declined to give further details.
“At this time, I don’t feel there is a public safety issue,” Pyle said.
