Watch Archive Of Nelsonville Bypass Opening Ceremony
< < Back to watch-archive-nelsonville-bypass-opening-ceremonyDecades in the making, the highway bypass that is expected to shave time off the trip to Columbus and ease bottlenecked traffic in Nelsonville opened Tuesday, Oct. 1.
The $160 million U.S. Route 33 Nelsonville Bypass is a three-phase, 8.5-mile new construction of four-lane highway through Athens and Hocking County Ohio.
Speakers for the event include Ohio University President Roderick McDavis, Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Jerry Wray, ODOT representative Steve Williams, Wayne National Forest Supervisor Anne Cary and retired TRAC member and SE Ohio Transportation advocate Kenner Bush. The City of Athens Engineer Andy Stone will be the master of ceremonies.
