Warren Upsets Gallia Academy 31-21
< < Back to warren-upsets-gallia-academy-31-21It was not a happy homecoming for the Gallia Academy Blue Devils, as they were upset at home by the Warren Warriors, 31-21.
The Warriors sprung out to an early lead, scoring on a pass from quarterback Austin Klintworth to tight end Dave Ryan. The touchdown came on the same drive that was extended three plays earlier by a fake punt pass from the same duo.
Gallia Academy didn’t let Warren have all the offensive fun, however, as Wade Jarrell threw a 69-yard bomb down the sideline to wide receiver Logan Allison in the second quarter.
After forcing Warren to a three-and-out on their next possession, Gallia Academy fumbled the ball on its first play of the drive, and Warren recovered it. Two plays into the drive, Jared Isner punched the ball in from 15 yards out to put Warren up, 14-7, with 7:31 left in the second quarter.
To finish the scoring in the first half, Wade Jarrell kept the ball himself and ran it in from the Warren 38 yard line to tie the score at 14 going into the half.
Gallia’s offensive scoring was done for the night, as the only score they had the rest of the game came from a 85-yard kickoff return by Logan Allison, who finished with two receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown on the night.
Warren finished with 458 total yards of offense, with 299 of those yards coming from the rushing attack. Gallia Academy only compiled 288 yards.
Warren hosts Portsmouth (2-6) next Friday night, while Gallia Academy hosts the Logan Chieftans (4-3) at Memorial Field.
