Campbellsville Spoils Rio’s Hot Start, Wins 3-1
< < Back to campbellsville-spoils-rios-hot-start-wins-3-1Rio Grande (10-15, 4-11) started out fast with a first-set victory but fell quickly as Campbellsville took the next three to win the four set match.
Despite trailing the Tigers by three early on, 8-5, the RedStorm rallied back. They tied the game at 13-13 the two teams battled the rest of the set. The Tigers and RedStorm were tied late in the frame at 22 all, but the RedStorm took three of the final four points to take the set 25-23.
The rest of the match however was all Campbellsville. The RedStorm held the lead just once, 6-5 in the third, in the final three sets. The Tigers took the final three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 25-19.
Betsy Schramm led the RedStorm offense with 15 kills and Kayla Briley chipped in 38 assists. Nicole Ogg had 23 digs on the defensive side for Rio Grande.
The RedStorm are back in action next Friday when they host the University of the Cumberlands for Senior Night. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
