Ohio's Erin Bailes (3) jumps for a rebound in the Bobcats' loss to Youngstown State.

The Ohio University women’s basketball team has been selected to finish fifth in the Mid-American Conference East Division, according to the conference’s coaches.

Akron was picked to finish first in the East division, garnering nine of the 12 first-place votes. Central Michigan earned all 12 first-place votes in the MAC West Division.

Ohio welcomes six freshmen to a young team in 2013. A season ago, the Bobcats finished 6-23 and 1-15 in the conference.

The 2013-14 season will be the first for head coach Bob Bolden at the helm of the Bobcats' women's basketball program. Bolden comes from Youngstown State, where he inherited a team that was 0-30 in 2009-10 and led them to a 23-10 record in 2012-13.

The Bobcats will open their regular season at home on Nov. 10 when they welcome Xavier to the Convocation Center.
