OU Announces Casting Call For Upcoming Films
< < Back toOhio University second year film project leaders are calling for males and females of all ages and all ethnicity to audition for nine upcoming films by aspiring filmmakers.
"There are a variety of roles, from lead parts to extras. We are open to actors with previous training and experience and to non-actors as well," said Visiting Assistant Professor of Filmmaking Pearl Gluck, who is in her second year of residence in Athens and originally from Brooklyn, N.Y.
"The films have parts for all ages, from babies to octogenarians and everything in between," she added.
Collaborating with the Division of Film on the casting call is local arts administrator/actress Marlo Tinkham who has been advising students on local connections to streamline the casting process.
"One of my goals has been to bridge the gap between community arts groups and the college," said Tinkham, who is managing director for Ohio Valley Summer Theater. "I enjoy accommodating this connection, which is similar to the work a talent agency does. I’m exploring the advantages of having access to one in the future."
The open casting call in Athens is Sunday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in room 308 of Kantner Hall. Applicants will be screened on film and may be asked to read lines for the director. There is no charge to audition for any role.
Interested talent should be available to shoot projects beginning in January or February in Athens, Ohio. Some scenes may filmed out-of-town and the likelihood of this will be discussed by individual directors during the casting call.
Applicants who would like to schedule an audition or who are unable to attend Sunday’s open call should email their contact information, acting resume and a photo to gluck@ohio.edu. Details of available roles will be released on Facebook.
