Executive Editor of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel Dies

He was 65.
The newspaper says in a story published Thursday that Smith died Wednesday at his home in Parkersburg.
He came to the Parkersburg newspaper in 2001.
He previously served as editor of the Piqua Daily Call in western Ohio, The Herald-Star in Steubenville, Ohio, The Review in East Liverpool, Ohio, and The Daily Iberian in New Iberia, La.
Smith served as chairman of the West Virginia Press Association's Freedom of Information Committee for several years.
News and Sentinel publisher Jim Spanner says Smith was a lifelong journalist and a true newspaperman.
Kimes Funeral Home in Parkersburg is in charge of funeral arrangements.
