Mid-Ohio Valley Players to Stage Romantic Comedy Classic

The Mid-Ohio Valley Players are returning to the stage with family-friendly classic.

The Fantasticks, the longest-running musical in the world, will be performed Jan. 17 through Feb. 1 at the Mid-Ohio Valley Players Theatre, located at 229 Putnam Street in Marietta.

The romantic comedy premiered off-Broadway in 1960 and ran uninterrupted before closing in 2002, after 17,162 performances. The plot revolves around a boy, a girl, their meddling fathers and the wall that divides them.

Directed by Kevin and Karen Paskawych with sets by Bud Houston, the cast includes: Christopher Nicholson as El Gallo; Robin Kelby as Luisa; Brandon Humphrey as Matt; Debbie Lawson as Bellomy; Mark Abicht as Hucklebee; George Litman as Henry; Scott Buchanan as Mortimer; and Hannah Taylor & Payton Burkhammer as the mutes.

Performance dates are Jan. 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and Feb. 1 at 8 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on Jan. 26 at 3 p.m.

A special “buy one, get one free” ticket deal is being offered for opening night on Jan. 17, along with a 15% discount on an entrée at participating restaurants.

Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and students and $8 for children 16 and younger.

Tickets are available at www.midohiovalleyplayers.org, Marty’s Print Shop of Marietta or the Marietta Convention & Visitors Bureau. The box office opens two hours before show time.
