Area Police Recognized For Safety Efforts
< < Back toTwo South Central Ohio police departments are honored for their safety efforts.
The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Waverly Police Department are both winners of triple A's Platinum Community Traffic Safety Award.
The departments were part of hundreds nationwide that triple A says went above and beyond the call of duty to enforced activities geared towards making communities safer.
Twelve additional departments statewide received recognition, including Chillicothe Hillsboro, McArthur, Piketon, Wellston and Jackson Police Departments. The Athens Post of the Highway Patrol and the Ross County Sheriffs Office were also recognized.
In order to be eligible for the awards, a community must conduct traffic safety promotions and educate the public on safety issues.
