Investigation Begins For Ohio Turnpike Accidents
< < Back to investigation-begins-ohio-turnpike-accidentsA preliminary investigation into a series of Ohio Turnpike crashes earlier this month blamed drivers' speeds, road conditions and weather.
The initial report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol into the March 12 crashes will be sent to the Sandusky County prosecutor to decide whether charges should be filed.
The crashes on a snowy two-mile stretch of the Ohio Turnpike – which the investigation found were mostly caused by tractor-trailer trucks – killed three people and injured a state trooper.
The trooper, Andrew Clouser, was injured after responding to the scene of a crash that killed a 20-year-old woman. He was listed in fair condition Thursday at a Toledo hospital.
