In the first doubleheader of a 10 home game series, the Rio Grande RedStorm (22-13) swept the Cumberlands Patriots (13-22) thanks partly to nearly perfect pitching from Jenna Jones and Tiffany Bise.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Jones came out running on all cylinders. Jones went the whole game on the mound, striking out six, walking two, and only giving up one hit. The only hit came from Patriots’ shortstop Tori Poma.

Jones was able to contribute on the offensive end as well, as she was a perfect 2 for 2 and had a RBI double that brought in Robinson. The score was part of a three-run first inning for the RedStorm. Five other RedStorm batters had a hit while Ariel Roder had the other two RBIs.

In game two, Bise came out just as strong, if not stronger. In a full game effort, Bise struck out three and gave up just two hits.

Leading the RedStorm at the plate in the second game was Kim Rollins, Rio Grande’s leading hitter. Rollins was able to go 2 for 3 with a double and a single. She also led the team in RBIs with two.

Jones was able to tack on a hit and a game high two stolen bases. Cheyenne Hamaker also had a stolen base on the outing.
