West Virginia Officials Dedicate Flood Protection Project
< < Back to island-creek-flood-protectionWest Virginia officials are celebrating a project that addresses a longtime flooding problem in Logan County.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin attended a dedication ceremony on Monday for the Island Creek Flood Protection Project.
WCHS-TV reports that project includes widening the Island Creek channel to an 80-foot bottom width for a distance of 3,600 feet upstream of its meeting with the Guyandotte River.
The project also will include the removal of an existing sandbar and implementation of a flood warning system.
