Offender To Speak To Athens Property Crimes Task Force
< < Back to offender-speak-athens-property-crimes-task-forceThere are fewer better able to explain how to prevent crime than criminals themselves. That's probably the thinking behind having a known offender speak to members of the Athens County Property Crimes Task Force.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn's office announced the group will hear directly from an offender Tuesday evening at the meeting at the Athens Community Center.
The meeting will include a discussion on what the region is experiencing with property crimes, how to prevent different kinds of property crimes and what to do when witnessing a crime.
The name of the offender who will be speaking has not been released but part of his sentence was to speak to groups to explain how to prevent such crimes from occurring.
The offender will be explaining the tactics he used to commit the crimes.
The Athens County Property Crimes Task Force is part of Prosecutor Keller Blackburn’s Community Justice Initiative.
Blackburn will be a guest on WOUB TV's Newswatch Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM. The task force meeting will be held at 7:00 PM.
