West Virginia Attorney General Sues President Obama
< < Back toWest Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is suing President Barack Obama's administration over allegations of hand-picking which laws to follow.
The Republican's lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.
The filing by Solicitor General Elbert Lin targets an Obama administrative fix to let some people temporarily keep unqualified plans under the Affordable Care Act.
Republican U.S. House Speaker John Boehner wants to sue over similar allegations. That lawsuit proposal hasn't received a floor vote yet.
Morrisey's lawsuit says Obama sought to shift political and legal responsibility to the states for canceled health plans.
The lawsuit doesn't ask for policies to be terminated. It seeks to force the administration to work with Congress on a fix.
Morrisey is the only attorney general in the lawsuit.
