More than $170 worth of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters have been tossed into two county-owned fountains in Wood County over the past two years.
Angi Graham with the Wood County Administrator's office says county officials plan to donate the money to the Make A Wish Foundation.
Graham tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that maintenance crews have collected $176 worth of coins from a fountain at the Wood County Courthouse and another fountain at the Black Annex.
She says county officials hope to donate the money to a local Make A Wish participant.
Make A Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition.
