Week 3 Power Rankings: TVC-Hocking
< < Back to week-3-power-rankings-tvc-hocking-0
1) Trimble Tomcats (3-0)
Trimble has yet to face a formidable test this season with its smallest margin of victory standing at 30 points in their season opener against Nelsonville-York. The Tomcats’ 40-12 win over South Gallia Friday moves them to a 3-0 overall record and a comfortable sitting at number one.
2) Wahama White Falcons (2-1)
Wahama takes second place simply because they have one loss. On paper and in person, the White Falcons have looked capable of being the top dogs in the Hocking. Kalieb Sheets and Demetrius Serevicz have been the go-to guys on offense, making up for the departure of Kane Roush. Week 6 will most likely be the White Falcons only chance to climb to number one when they travel to Trimble.
3) Southern Tornadoes (1-2)
The Tornadoes started the season with a 27-0 victory over Notre Dame, but followed that performance with road losses to Frontier and Wahama, who have a combined 5-1 record.
4) South Gallia Rebels (2-1)
The Rebels suffered their first loss in week three, falling 41-12 to Trimble. Their two dominant wins over Sciotoville and Federal Hocking vaulted them into a tie with Wahama for best overall record in the conference. South Gallia will host Symmes Valley in week four, which could have an early impact on the team’s playoff prospects.
5) Waterford Wildcats (1-2)
The young Wildcats have faced the stingy defenses of Wahama and Fort Frye, but the offense has found a way to be productive. The team has improved greatly from last year in terms of scoring, putting up 53 points in their first three games, compared to 82 points all of last year.
6) Eastern Eagles (1-2)
The Eagles had a rough outing in week three in their first road game of the season in a low-scoring 14-6 loss to River Valley. Having scored 12 points or fewer in two of its three games, Eastern’s offense remains an area of concern moving forward.
7) Belpre Golden Eagles (2-1)
After a two year losing streak against Federal Hocking, the Golden Eagles posted a dominant 28-8 win over the Lancers. Belpre’s road ahead is treacherous with Wahama, Southern and South Gallia all due up for the sixth-place Golden Eagles.
8) Federal Hocking Lancers (0-3)
The Lancers stumbled out of the gate with a 30-0 loss to Alexander and they have not found their stride since. They have been outscored, 102-16, through three games.
9) Miller Falcons (0-3)
Excluding a week two 47-20 loss to Eastern, the Falcons have been competitive this season, losing by eight to Waterford and one to Millersport. An average point total of just under 14 will need to rise in order for the team to do the same in the standings.
