Trimble Rolls Waterford 69-0 [VIDEO]
< < Back toThe Trimble Tomcats (4-0, 3-0 TVC-Hocking) showed no mercy against the Waterford Wildcats (1-3, 1-2), dominating in every phase of the game and coming away with the 69-0 win.
From the opening kickoff, Trimble seemed to outmatch Waterford. Trimble’s defense was a force which to be reckoned, rarely allowing the Wildcats to establish a rhythm on offense. Waterford finished with only 60 yards of total offense.
On the other hand, Justice Jenkins and the Trimble offense were clicking right from its opening drive. Jenkins kicked off the scoring with a 36-yard run to the house and remained a focal point for the Tomcat offense all night.
Jenkins added another touchdown run on the following drive, this time for 11 yards out, putting the score at 13-0 in the first. After another lock-down defensive effort, the Tomcats regained possession of the ball and continued to slice-and-dice the Wildcats defense. This time, Jenkins caught the ball for the score. Quarterback Andrew Losey delivered a perfect pass to a slanting Jenkins and he found his way to pay dirt.
The Tomcats had a keen eye when it came to finding holes in the Wildcats defense, busting open big runs throughout the night.
After one half of play, Trimble led category of yards 427-14 and led on the scoreboard 62-0. Jenkins, who finished with eight carries for 188 yards, could not be contained. The starting running back sat out the second half of the game but still finished with three total touchdowns and two catches for 31 yards.
Trimble’s special teams performed especially well, returning a majority of the kicks/punts returns for at least 20-30 yards, putting them in a good field position on almost every possession.
Wildcat quarterback Isaac Huffman completed less than one third of his passes, going five-for-18 with two interceptions. The sophomore’s 20 total yards made up a third of Waterford’s total game yardage.
Next week, Waterford will host the Frontier Cougars (3-0) while Trimble will travel to Miller (0-4, 0-3) to take on the Falcons.
