Week 7 Power Rankings: SEOAL
< < Back to1)Jackson Ironmen (7-0, 2-0) | Last week’s ranking: 1
A dominant 42-7 victory over Logan solidified Jackson as the top dog in the SEOAL. The Ironmen not only dismantled the Chieftains with 432 yards rushing, but also held Logan to just one touchdown. While the offense had a field day on the ground, Jackson’s defense also stepped up in big way forcing five turnover-on-downs and two turnovers.
2)Logan Chieftains (3-4, 1-1) | Last week’s ranking: 2
Despite falling easily to Jackson last week, Logan maintains its number two spot. The loss to Jackson comes as a crushing blow to the Chieftains hopes of repeating in the SEOAL. Defense has been an issue, as Logan has now given up 40 or more points in four out of their seven games this season.
3)Gallia Academy Blue Devils (3-4, 1-0) | Last week’s ranking: 3
In their first conference game of the year, the Blue Devils were able to snap their three-game losing skid last Friday with a nine-point victory over Portsmouth. The win wasn’t pretty for the Blue Devils, as both they and Portsmouth combined for an astounding 11 turnovers.
4)Warren Warriors (1-6, 0-1) | Last week’s ranking: 5
A win in week two seems like distant memory for the Warren Warriors who have the worst scoring offense in the SEOAL, averaging just over 10 points per game. Warren has also not scored more than a touchdown in their last five games.
5)Portsmouth Trojans (1-6, 0-2) | Last week’s ranking: 4
Things are going from bad to worse for the Trojans in their last season in the SEOAL. Portsmouth was knocked off last week 24-15 to Gallia Academy and has now lost its last three games. The Trojans rank dead last in the SEOAL in points allowed this season with 260 given up through seven games and that is likely to get even worse Friday when they face a Jackson team that has scored 40 or more points three times this season.
