Ashy Collects Third MAC Weekly Of Season
< < Back toLibero Meredith Ashy was named MAC-East Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after her performances the Ohio Universtiy volleyball team's two-match road trip last weekend against Ball State and Toledo.
The junior helped the Bobcats (15-4, 8-0 MAC) remain unbeaten in Mid-American Conference play with a pair of road victories against the two West Division rivals. Over the weekend, Ashy averaged 5.57 digs per set and recorded two service aces.
On Friday, Ashy led the Bobcats as they knocked off Ball State, 3-1 at Worthen Arena. The Louisville native led the match on the defensive end against the Cardinals with 23 digs, marking the eighth time in 2014 she has compiled 20 or more digs.
Ashy and the Bobcats went on Saturday to cruise past Toledo, 3-0. The libero recorded 16 digs against the Rockets, bringing her career total to 1,414, which ranks third in program history.
Ashy currently leads the MAC in digs with an average of 5.52 per set and previously received Player of the Weeks honors in 2014 for the weeks of Sept. 15 and Sept. 29.
