Seniors Focus Of Ohio Law Enforcement Conference
< < Back to seniors-focus-ohio-law-enforcement-conferenceThis year's state Law Enforcement Conference is focusing on protecting older Ohioans against abuse, financial exploitation and other crimes, a growing concern with an aging population.
Officials and experts involved in police agencies, adult protective services and related fields, along with representatives of financial institutions, plan to take part in workshops at the conference Tuesday and Wednesday in Columbus.
Attorney General Mike DeWine hosts a session Tuesday on elder financial exploitation. State and federal officials in recent years have tried to increase public awareness of elder abuse and to increase investigations and access to services.
Since May of this year, the attorney general's office says it has received more than 100 requests for aid in elder cases, most for financial exploitation cases that have ranged as high as $1 million.
