Athens Start-Up Weekend Kicks Off Friday
< < Back toStart Up Weekend in Athens kicks off this weekend.
The 54-hour event is open to anyone in the Southeast Ohio community, and is an opportunity for participants to come together to form teams to pitch ideas for a start up business.
Friday night begins with pitching ideas and voting on which ones to advance. The teams are formed around the top ideas, and then spend the entire weekend working together developing business plans, prototypes, or products.
Sunday night is the final judging where the winners are awarded prizes worth thousands of dollars.
Stacey Strauss, associate director of the Innovation Center, said the event is beneficial to anyone interested in business.
"There is a team that needs your skills. If nothing else, it's an opportunity for you to learn about business development and startups in particular, and also to expand your network, and learn from professionals, and maybe find a mentor" said Strauss.
The event will be held at the Innovation Center Friday through Sunday. Registration is open until midnight Thursday.
