Portions Of West Union Street Still Closed After Fire

Residents of the far ends of West Union Street and South Couth Street are being allowed to return to their homes.
The Sunday morning fire damaged five buildings and shut a portion of West Union Street between Court and Congress streets.
The south side of W. Union is open to pedestrians.
The city is allowing local businesses to use the left hand turn lane on S. Congress onto Union as a loading zone for the time being.
West Union Street will remain closed until a full inspection of the buildings is complete.
