The Mid-American Conference announced its 2014 All-Mid-American Postseason Awards on Wednesday and four Bobcats were named to All-MAC Teams.
Daz Patterson earned the highest honor, making it on the All-MAC Specialists Second Team. Offensive lineman Lucas Powell was named to the Third Team Offense. Linebacker Jovon Johnson and defensive lineman Tarell Basham received Third Team Defense honors.
Patterson returned 15 punts for 136 yards for a 9.1 yard return average.
Powell anchored the Bobcats offensive line at center.
Johnson, one of the Bobcats’ leaders on defense, compiled 67 total tackles, 46 of which were solo tackles. Both numbers ranked second on the team. He also led the Bobcats with 10.5 tackles for loss. He recorded 3.5 sacks and picked off opponents twice in 2014. The outside linebacker also forced and recovered a fumble.
Basham finished the season tied for the team lead in sacks with five. He recorded six tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries to go along with 33 tackles, 15 of which were solo.
At 6-6 the Bobcats are bowl-eligible and wait to hear their postseason fates. ESPN currently projects the Bobcats will miss out on the 2014 bowl season.
