Ohio To Form Task Force Aimed At Police Relations
< < Back to ohio-form-task-force-aimed-police-relationsOhio's governor and attorney general are announcing a task force charged with recommending ways to improve relations between police and the communities they serve.
Additional details about the panel are expected to be released during a news conference Friday. Gov. John Kasich plans to join Attorney General Mike DeWine and state lawmakers for the Statehouse announcement.
The task force formation comes a day after the U.S. Justice Department concluded that Cleveland police officers too often violate people's civil rights because of inadequate training and a lack of supervision and accountability.
It also follows several officer-involved shootings, including the death of a 12-year-old boy carrying a pellet gun in Cleveland and a 22-year-old man carrying an air riffle in a suburban Dayton Wal-Mart store.
