Turnovers Plague Tomcats In Loss To Miller
< < Back to turnovers-plague-tomcats-loss-millerThe Trimble Tomcats (1-5) were unable to secure a win Thursday as they took on the Miller Falcons in Glouster, with the Miller Lady Falcons coming away with the victory 52-36.
The Tomcats had a promising start, playing an aggressive offense and a quick back and forth, with head coach Tom Hardy yelling from the sidelines, but they couldn’t stop Miller’s defense. The Tomcats began racking in the fouls as they struggled to gain possession and helped push the Falcons to 6-of-9 from the free throw line at the end of the first quarter. The Tomcats also had a difficult time grabbing rebounds, forcing the ball into Miller’s hands.
The second half began with the Tomcats picking up their speed and they saw themselves down by only five points half way through the third, but that was their only lead. When asked about the inconsistencies of the game coach Hardy recognized that the girls needed some adjusting.
“It was hard to get consistent because we’re relatively young and with that comes adapting to the way the game is being played,” he said.
Senior Trista Lackey put up 10 points on the scoreboard for the Tomcats and five rebounds. The shining star on the team, however, was freshman Sydney Hardy.
“Hardy did a really good job recognizing the way the officials were calling the game and started driving to the rim,” coach Hardy said. “ She attacked the glass really well, especially since she’s not really comfortable doing that.”
The Trimble Lady Tomcats, now 1-3 in the TVC- hocking, will face Eastern on Dec. 15.
