Man Sentenced in Burglary Case
< < Back to man-sentenced-in-burglary-caseMichael Dale Wright, 25, appeared before Athens County Common Pleas Judge Patrick J. Lang on Monday and changed his plea to guilty to an indictment charging one count each of aggravated burglary and felonious assault.
Judge Lang sentenced Wright to six years in the State Penal System, to begin upon completion of the sentence he is currently serving. Wright will be subject to five years of post-release control upon his release. Wright was ordered to pay restitution and court costs
“Wright did admit to entering the home of another individual on Nov. 12, 2013, with the purpose to commit a theft offense,” Blackburn said. “Wright also admitted to assaulting an individual at the residence with a knife, causing serious physical harm.”
Wright is currently incarcerated at the Southeast Correctional Institution on unrelated Hocking County charges.
Wright’s co-defendant, Timothy Pickett, 44, is scheduled to begin a bench trial in front of Judge George P. McCarthy on Tuesday.
