Women’s Basketball: Head Coach Signs Extension
< < Back to womens-basketball-head-coach-signs-extensionOhio Athletic Director Jim Schaus announced earlier this morning that Ohio women’s basketball head coach Bob Boldon has signed a new five-year extension through the 2020 season.
“I am honored by this extension,” Boldon said, “It says that we are doing a lot of great things as a program.”
Coach Boldon took over a program that was 6-23 (1-15 Mid-American Conference) two years ago. After going 9-21 (4-14 MAC) in his first season, he led the Bobcats to their best finish in decades with a 25-4 (16-2 MAC) record.
The 2014-2015 season has been the best season in Ohio’s history since 1985-1986 and is only the fourth 20-plus-win season in the programs history. He led the Bobcats to their first MAC Regular Season Championship in over 20 years and gave Ohio the number one overall seed heading into the MAC Tournament.
In the two seasons leading Ohio, Boldon is 33-25 and 20-16 in the Mid-American Conference.
Boldon also took home the honor of being named the 2015 MAC Coach of the Year award yesterday.
With this new extension, the Bobcats women’s basketball program could be one of the best teams in the MAC for years to come.
