Trimble School Teacher Dies

The body was found at the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Trimble Twp. area was shaken Monday morning with the news that a prominent member of the community has died.
The Athens County Public Information Officer Network put out a news release stating that the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department lost one of its firefighters at the fire station and that the incident is under investigation by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
The firefighter’s name has not been released pending notification of family, but WOUB learned that the firefighter was also a staff member at Trimble Elementary. The elementary school was under a two-hour delay Monday morning, with staff and teachers told to report as normal.
Acting Sheriff Rodney Smith said the person suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He referred additional questions to the PIO network.
Deputies received a call at 5:30 a.m. concerning the incident.
The body will be sent for an autopsy.
