< < Back to bigfoot-thriller-to-be-filmed-in-athens-countyFilming for Campout, a new adventure thriller presented by Buckdog Productions, will begin on Saturday, June 13 in Nelsonville and the surrounding area.
The film, written and directed by Buchtel native Glenn Martin, will feature local talent as well as some big-name screen actors, according to a press release.
The film’s plot centers on Bigfoot, who, enraged by the murder of its offspring, rampages through the countryside of Southeast Ohio.
A detective (Zach Galligan), park ranger (Johnny Lechner) and a Bigfoot researcher (Dave Sherrill) scramble to locate the legendary creature before it attacks a group of teenagers on a camping trip to an isolated place called Kampout.
Campout will star Clint Howard (Apollo 13, The Waterboy, Austin Powers series), Zach Galligan (Gremlins, Gremlins 2, Waxwork), Dave Sherrill (The Rookie, The Wraith), Jamie Bozian (Con Air, The Wraith), Johnny Lechner (Fraternity House), Stephanie Grote (Fraternity House, The Grudge Match) and Chris Nash (Mischief, The Wraith).
This weekend will be a sort of homecoming for Nash, who visited Nelsonville 30 years ago for the filming of Mischief.
Campout will also introduce local actors Braden Baker of Lancaster and Kayla Coleman of McArthur.
This is the second film for Buckdog Productions. The first film —When Night Comes, a horror flick also shot in Nelsonville—premiered at Movies 10 in May 2014. Buckdog Productions will be working with Columbus’ Sabo Studios to shoot the film.
