Ohio Reports Unchanged 5.2 Percent Unemployment Rate for May

The Friday report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services showed Ohio’s May unemployment rate was down from the same month last year, when it was 5.7 percent.
Ohio had 302,000 unemployed workers in May, up from 297,000 unemployed workers in April.
Before April, Ohio’s unemployment rate had held steady at 5.1 percent since December.
The state saw gains in May in sectors including manufacturing, utilities and state government. Areas with the biggest job losses were leisure and hospitality and local government.
Ohio’s unemployment rate has remained below the nation’s, which was 5.5 percent for May.
